The Journey of A Day Without Love

A Day Without Love began in 2013 after experiencing homelessness for a short period of time in 2013. The words “A Day Without Love” came from a poem that Brian wrote after witnessing and stopping domestic abuse on his college campus. The idea of a music project started in 2013, when Walker decided he wanted to write music with more intention.

A Day Without Love started by  releasing their 2013 EPs Island and Confessions of the Innocent Mind. In their first year, A Day Without Love already caught the attention of local press, catching a positive review in Jump Philly.

In 2015, Walker’s bandmates departed, leaving A Day Without Love as a solo folk punk project. Undeterred, Brian Walker signed to Sounds and Tones Records and began work on his first album, Solace which he completed the following year. His first pressing sold out, and he began touring the south via Megabus and through the support of various friends.

Supporting Izzy Helltai through the south and midwest in 2017, Brian Walker started to learn more about his ability to tour outside of the East coast. He experienced various things from sing-alongs with strangers to even facing racism in Nashville. Taking the good with the bad , Walker continued to press on.

A Day Without Love released Diary in 2018 to critical acclaim. That year, Brian Walker landed an interview with Afropunk Magazine opening up about his experiences with mental illness, racism in music, his involvement in political activism, and his quest for self-love.

The following year saw Brian Walker branch out into ever more side quests. He launched his podcast Dreams Not Memes and began collaborating on the documentary Safe x Sound. He also began work on his still unfinished Stranger That You’ve Met Before. That year he would also release his single of crowd favorite “Good Friends Are Hard to Find.”

Walker used the pandemic to supercharge his productivity, releasing the album Mega Jawn featuring 15 collabs, 11 EPs, 140 podcast episodes, and his poetry book Surviving and Diving. He kept busy in 2021, working on his upcoming album and seeing the release of the documentary.

The band has continued to tour and record music as Walker searches the world to spread wisdom, joy, happiness and the willingness for others to rise above their own struggles. A Day Without Love wants everyone to chase their dream and be the best version of themselves no matter what sets them behind.

Be the best version of yourself no matter what, one day at a time.
